The Thule brand came into existence in 1942. The company which started small in Hillerstorp, southern Sweden is now a global leader in the backpack industry. In this article, we will find whether Thule Backpack and Luggage are worth the money.
The company designs and manufactures roof racks; bike water and winter sport carriers; roof boxes; computer and camera bags; sports bags and backpacks; and child-related products such as baby joggers, child bike seats and bike trailers as well as luggage. Indeed Thule offers a wide range of premium products for active people.
This allows them to bring what they care most for – safely, easily and more importantly in style. Their products are sold in more than 140 countries worldwide.
Over the years, the Thule group has grown large and has acquired a lot of good companies ranging from the US-founded cover and bag company Case Logic and SportRack Inc. Not only that, but they also acquired the Canadian brand Chariot, the Dutch company Yepp and also Tepui, a very popular Californian company.
Enough about how large the company is. Let’s talk about how good Thule Backpacks and Bags really are. And more importantly, are they worth your hard-earned money.

My experience with Thule Backpack
Thule Crossover 2 30l, Black
$225.00 in stock
3 used from $ 179.40
- Pockets: 5 slip, 1 zip, 6 exterior
- Protect a 15.6" laptop in dedicated, padded compartment with patented SafeEdge construction
- Laptop compartment dimensions 15.2 x 10.4 x 1.2 in
I had been waiting to get a Thule Backpack for a long time now. However, my old eBags laptop backpack never seemed to die. That’s until 7 months ago.
I was looking for a leather laptop backpack but I ended up getting the Crossover 2 backpack instead. The thing that made me go with this particular backpack is how easy it is to organize smaller items inside of it.
Not only that, accessing all that you have stored is just as easy. There are slots and pockets where you can store things like your credit card and small things like your earphones.
The space that the bag provides is quite useful. I use my Crossover 2 backpack not only to carry my laptop and my iPad 10.2 2019 but also notebooks and sometimes even gym gears. I can’t appreciate how functional the bag is with all of the compartments given.
Previously I had to keep my glasses inside a hard case then in my bag. But now with the Crossover 2, I do not have to carry a hard casing for my glasses. The bag houses a separate compartment with a cup-shaped protecting casing where you can house your glasses.
I believe The Thule Crossover 2 backpack will appeal to most messy teenagers. Thule sensibly puts several pockets and compartments for people like us to get a bit more organized. The backpack is versatile enough to be used for hiking, a small day trip, or a long day of classes. Internal zippered pockets are great for the money, passport, valuables. Its layout also encourages me to neatly arrange and organize items. And I can assure you that since I am so much more organized after getting this Thule backpack.back to menu ↑
Where to buy Thule Bags from?
Thule bags are seen in almost every country. They are present in major retail and online stores like eBay, Bestbuy, and Amazon. You can get them at Walmart too! But in my opinion, getting it from their official website or Amazon Official Store is the best bet. When you buy Thule bags from outside of Thule’s website and off Amazon, you may sometime not get the same warranty or aftersales support. The buyer guide on the Thule website is a time saver if you want a bag but are confused about what to actually buy.
Thule bags can also be purchased from retailers. It can also be a really good option especially if you are someone who likes to try out things in person before making the purchase decision. But remember, the online stores will always have a larger selection. And yes, the Thule backpacks and luggage are cheaper when bought online.
If you are planning to buy Thule bags then make sure you search for a coupon code. It will help you save quite a bit of money.back to menu ↑
Like every other major brand, Thule also has quite a bit of competition. I do not think there are many companies that can quite match the selection of backpack and luggage that Thule has to offer. However, they are a few noteworthy competitors I would like to mention here:
Timbuk 2 Backpacks
We have covered timbuk2 Bags in detail in our “Are Timbuk2 Bags Really worth the money” article. Timbuk2 Bags are also extremely good when it comes to the value proposition. Sure, the bags from Tumbuk2 are also not cheap but they are worth every penny.
The thing to love about Timbuk2 is that their bags can be customized from the factory-specifically for you. The bags are made in San Fransisco and have quite a bit of fan following. Timbuk2 is one of the few brands that provide a lot of variety of bags. Their mission is for the people to fall in love with the functionality and utility their messenger bag and they wanted it to be accessible to all.
eBags has grown in popularity of late. Their official website sells more than just bags made by the company. This has led more people getting in the website and ultimately buying an eBags backpack.
The eBags backpacks are significantly cheaper than Timbuk2 Backpacks and Thule backpacks. However, the finish can not be on par with other premium brands. We also have an article about eBags which you can check out by clicking here.
I haven’t personally used a Nomantic backpack but have heard quite a bit about them. Nomantic bags with its premium touch with elegant design attracts quite a number of people. The bag seems to be particularly popular among high-schoolers. But one downside to this bag is its price. The backpack from Nomantic seems to be overpriced for the materials used.
Osprey is a brand not many of you may have heard about. But it’s one brand that has truly grabbed my attention. Though not as large as other key players in the backpacks industry, Osprey is growing fast. Sure, they have been in business for over 4 decades now but in the last few years, they have grown significantly. You can check out our take on Osprey Backpacks here.back to menu ↑
So, are Thule Bags worth the money?
There is no doubt when it comes to the credibility of Thule bags. Thule bags are worth the money if you are looking for a backpack for long term use. These bags are made to last.
Even day to day use of these bags won’t affect the durability compared to cheap Chinese bags you can buy off eBay. It was quite a bit of investment when I bought my first Thule Crossover 2 backpack. But now reflecting back I think I made a pretty good decision. The bag went through a lot and yet it somehow managed to hold up on its integrity. You simply can’t go wrong while buying the bag. Trust me it’s that good.
Thule bags conquer quite a bit of the audience as they have a wide variety of products. their products range from luggage, backpacks to roof racks for cars. They have a wide range of not only a variety of products but with the price, they also have quite a bit of. range. The price ranges from 60 to 300 dollars.
If you are quite tight with budget then we definitely recommend you to check other cheaper brands. You will definitely find a backpack less expensive than this one but not exactly like this with such durability which is why I think it’s worth the extra buck. All-in-all, Thule backpack and luggage are certainly worth the money.
Thule backpacks and luggage may seem expensive at first sight. But these backpacks are exceptionally well-made and can last for years without tearing apart.
